Dear Exploratory Team Members,

The NorthWestern Team would like to give you an update regarding the status of the substation in the mid-mountain Big Sky area. NorthWestern was granted approval of the Condition Use Permit (CUP) by the Gallatin County Commissioners on November 8th, 2018. Since November, we have been satisfying conditions of the CUP, completing engineering, and selecting the civil site work contractor. Just this morning, Gallatin County Commissioners approved the two lot exemptions.

With this approval all conditions of the CUP have been met and construction will begin. NorthWestern has chosen Dick Anderson Construction as the site work contractor and they will start mobilizing to the site tomorrow, July 10th. Dick Anderson plans on working from the 10th to late November, weather permitting. As part of the CUP conditions, work will only occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Access should not be hindered on Ridgeback Road, however more construction vehicles than usual will be present during substation site development.

Safety is of paramount importance at NorthWestern Energy. Do not approach the site during construction in order to maintain a safe work area for you and Dick Anderson’s employees. 2020 will include the placement of substation equipment and the final stages of the project. You can expect another update before the end of this year’s construction activity. Major construction updates will be posted to the project website.

The NorthWestern Team would like to thank you once again for your involvement throughout the process. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Taylor Olson at 406-497-4235, Heather Bellamy at 406-570-2092 or me at 406-497-4575.

Sincerely;

Mike
